Kwirks at Work

Welcome to Hero-U, a unique Role-playing Adventure Game series.

Hero-U features a strong story and interesting characters, mystery, excitement, danger, and intrigue.

And, of course, Kwirks.

Happy New New!

Happy New Year

We made it through a full year of Hero-U – Hurrah! We solved a lot of problems, created a great game system, came up with some beautiful artwork, and we’re putting the pieces together. There is a lot to do this year, but we’re on our way.

In case you missed it, here’s the Christmas Video we made to show off JP Selwood’s beautiful room sketches and to wish you all a fun holiday season. Yes, those backgrounds are only sample drawings. As lovely as they are, the final game art will be better.

So, in addition to the brand new game we’re bringing out later this year, we have a lot of new things to share with you.

First of all, a brand new Shawn O’Conner in 3D!

Shawn in 3D

Shawn will actually change his expression once in a while!

Shawn Angry

We’ve added Chris Willis to our team to be our 3D artist.

We’re redesigning our website and we’ll have links to our new Humble Store.

And that list is just for starters. We’ve got a big year ahead of all of us.

So Happy New Year, everyone… It’s going to be a fun one!

Just wanted to say things look awesome and happy to hear that you feel things are moving along. Like a lot of people on here I’m a longtime QfG fan and can’t wait to see the final product. Shawn keeps looking better and better and I’m glad he can express himself!! =)

  2. Yco Says:

Wow congrats on the hire! Chris Smith looks like a very experienced artist. :)

  3. Tom R Says:

I’m happy to hear that the characters will be in 3D! I was a little concerned when I saw the 2D artwork in the demo :)

Also, for anyone trying to play the old QFG games, you should check out DOSBox. Or, check it out at: http://www.gog.com/game/quest_for_glory … They’re guaranteed to work in Windows, and all 5 games are only $4!

  4. Lori Says:

    Thanks for writing, Zack!

Hero-U is set on the same world as QfG. There will be some crossover between the two game series. It will definitely focus on the people around you at the school as well as all the adventure and RPG aspects.

We’re trying to create a game that is every bit as fun and meaningful as QfG, but very different at the same time.

We hope that you will enjoy it as much as you did the original series.

    Thanks!

  5. Zack M. Says:

QfG shaped my childhood, I still get giddy thinking about the quests and the friends you make along the way. Will there be a similar focus on memorable characters you meet along the way for Hero U? Any chance for some cameos or is that a lawyer issue?

Can’t wait to see the final product, thank you so much for all you’ve given us already!

  6. Lori Says:

Thanks for the kind words. We’ll have a lot of extras on the final game downloads… Our soundtrack will be wonderful to listen to, and we’ll probably ask Maus and some others to sing the school song (when we get around to writing one :-) )

Hero-U will be a very different game series from QfG, but it will have the same heroic themes. Rogue to Redemption is all about making choices for Shawn and how those decisions affect the people around him.

Sorry to hear that QG5 crashed just as you were getting to the climax, but I guess that’s better than not being able to play it at all. The Computer games I design all pushed the envelope of what could be done with program complexity which means they drove the programmers crazy trying to deal with everything.

Hero-U will have an advantage over QfG – we’ll have a lot of beta and field testing before we ship to make sure the game won’t explode or disintegrate your computer. Of course, you might not want to be on the beta test team for those very reasons :-p

  7. Wendy Mann Says:

Lovely Hero-U Holiday video clip. Great male-lead voice, good choir, beautifully pronounced words, and excellent graphics. Highly professional and memorable. Please include this as an “extra” in the eventual game download!

Just almost-finished re-playing Quest for Glory 5 on Windows XP – unfortunately irredeemably crashed just after Minos death-scene, and many tips on internet could not solve it, including Quick Time 3. however, extremely enjoyable, and re-confirmed my opinion that QFG5 was and still is a brilliant game, incredibly rich and feature-filled. Fantastic game (and series). If Hero-U is even just 66% of what QFG5 was, it will be a brilliant success.

Best wishes for a successful and healthy 2014.
