Hero-U: Spread the word!
October 19, 2012 in Publicity
When we are waiting for the Kickstarter to be activated by KS, it’s time to really get down to spreading the word. I was thinking that we in this thread could summarise all channels where we have spread the word and can continue to do so:

So far I’ve written up stuff for my social media accounts (facebook being the main one). I’ve also written in my art site journals for deviantArt, sheezyart, and furaffinity. My status on Skype, MSN, Yahoo also point to the site and got to talk to many people in my contact list. I helped give updated news at Radio Rivendell. I’m about to give an update at clockwork forums (though it’s for webcomics, there is a game section and I’m a big part of that community). I may try something with Insomniac Games as well. I know many of the developers there are old diehard Sierra fans as they have proclaimed in their podcasts. I’ll have to tweak that message I’m sure. Also just got my iPad, so I think I can do decent video now and will try to put something up on YouTube.

That’s great James! I’m sure there are tons of people out there who would love to back this project, they just have to get the information

Guys from Andromeda and Quest for Infamy just gave a shout out about Hero-U so that will reach a couple of thousand potential backers!

I recently wrote this in an effort to keep the word going:

That is great Alan, thank you!

Thanks Roger! I have many more things planned to keep the word spreading including: “modestly” updating my facebook regularly with news of the project, more youtube videos, forum posts, and replying to existing articles about the kickstarter, making sure they’re up to date.

I wrote a little promotion on my blog even though it’ll only reach so many people. I’m not a part of many communities these days, and I don’t use The Facebook, but I worked up the nerve to talk about the Kickstarter for a couple minutes in front of the local IGDA meeting. (The coordinator even pulled up the page on the projector for a minute.) There were about 50 people there. I hope it helps.

I thought you’d be pleased to see that (since I brought it up in front of our meeting) the local IGDA chair decided to mention you in the monthly newsletter. I’m guessing this gets emailed to a couple hundred people.
