Welcome to the Hero-U Forums
September 3, 2012 in Uncategorized
This is created for all the fans of our games who want to help us make Hero-U. Our Kickstarter launch date is October 19. We need your support to get the word out to all the players who loved QfG.
Hero-U is a very different game from Quest for Glory. However, we’ll make it every bit as much fun.

How did I not know that this game was in the works
Thank god Kotaku.com posted something about it. Huge fan of QFG cannot wait to see what you guys do with this!
Lori said on September 19, 2012
Hi Atypical,
We’re still in the Kickstarter planning phases, and this is a brand new forum, as you can tell. We’re still setting it up. The forums will be set up for everyone who wants to help us get our Kickstarter project publicized. We need all the supporters we can get.

Just testing the waters here.
Lori said on September 19, 2012
Hi James! Congratulations, you have officially volunteered to run this forum. Thank you and good luck.
James StarRunner said on September 19, 2012
Hahaha! That made me laugh out loud! But sure! It’s what I agreed to after all!
Sameer said on September 21, 2012
Hi Lori, James, and AtypicalChuck! Very excited to see the forum underway!
James StarRunner said on September 25, 2012
Well… Underway, yes. Can’t wait till it’s finished though.

Hey guys!
I’ve been doing my best to spread the word about the approaching Kickstarter and thought it was time to stop in here and say “Hey guys!”
James StarRunner said on September 25, 2012
“Hey!”
Lori said on September 25, 2012
We’ll be working to get this forum site rock-n-rolling this week. It’s been a wild and wooly time for us since we first announced the Kickstarter. There’s so much to do to get ready for it. However, the thing that will make this Kickstarter work will be all of you. We really appreciate the help you all are giving to spread the word.
James StarRunner said on September 25, 2012
Ah good, I was asking about when the forum would be up and running (with registration and everything) to one of the many e-mail addresses you guys have.
Wayland said on September 27, 2012
I’m here. Just let me know what I need to do!
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on October 1, 2012
For now, just put the word out!
Alan Luckachina said on September 26, 2012
I’ve already got a lot of people excited for this kickstarter, and I was telling some friends yesterday, who are big fans of Mass Effect, about Jennifer Hale’s BEST role!
James StarRunner said on September 26, 2012
Sweet. The more people who know and get excited, the better!
Alan Luckachina said on September 26, 2012
Indeed! I eagerly await when things are in full swing so I can REALLY flex my Superfan muscles!
from SpaceVenture to Hero-U success is the only outcome!
Wayland said on September 27, 2012
Oh! Shiny new forums!
James StarRunner said on September 29, 2012
Well, new yes… But it’s still getting polished. :B
Jeremy Priest said on September 28, 2012
Great to see the spirit of Quest for Glory coming back out again. I miss that adventure flexiblity that didn’t rely on hack/slashing through every creature you came upon. The kill first ask questions later game style has gotten really stale. I can’t wait to help support this project.
James StarRunner said on September 29, 2012
Yeah, I think all those hack ‘n slash games devolved many of us. I can hardly DM a campaign without the players going trigger happy on anything that moves.
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on September 29, 2012
Got the account working Corey and Lori, thanks!
James Salmon said on September 30, 2012
Hero of Mordavia reporting for duty!!
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on September 30, 2012
Greetings hero of Mordavia! At ease, we aren’t ready to storm the dungeon just yet.
By the way, nice name! Not only that, but now we can represent two food groups!
What I also find interesting is that Salmon is my wife’s maiden name.
James Salmon said on September 30, 2012
Well, there are far too many Salmon in this world, both of the fish and human variety. I am willing to lay down my life in the search of more adventures and the perpetual recognition of being a hero; if at the same time I am assisting in the thinning of the salmon population, so be it. Perhaps someone will consume my remains with a roll.
Your wife is of a noble lineage, I am sure you recognize this. Treat her as a queen and you shall prosper in return.
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on September 30, 2012
Well, it’s true there’s a lot of Salmon in southern Alberta where I grew up. I also have nothing but her best interests at heart.
Roger said on September 30, 2012
From Sweden with love. I’m not entirely sure what my part here will be (just got an invitation) but I am happy to help.
19 days left!
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on September 30, 2012
Hey Roger! Isn’t it exciting? There will still be plenty to do and you will certainly have a part in it!
Drew said on September 30, 2012

James (StarRunner) Rolls said on September 30, 2012
Hey Orion! Great to see you back in the loop! I was wondering when you’d get here!

Thanks for the invite! Blake of Blake’s Sanctum reporting for Hero-U duty!
Hell I’m actually playing QFG4 right now hahaha.
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on October 1, 2012
Hey Blake! Glad you made it!
I wish I could play right now, but I can’t exactly put a disk into my phone. Still have to wait on computer parts.

James (StarRunner) Rolls said on October 1, 2012
Oh! A brother from the other coast! Greetings from Vancouver, BC!
Joseph-Howse said on October 1, 2012
Yep, it looks like we’re both Canadian and we also both have Crohn’s disease!
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on October 1, 2012
Oh no! I do hope yours isn’t as severe as mine was. They had to cut out six inches of small intestine… Now I actually have a good program should it ever flare up again. You should take a look at the book, ‘Breaking the Vicious Cycle’ if you haven’t already. Good tips in there!
AztecMonkeyGod said on October 1, 2012
AztecMonkeyGod, here and ready to serve.
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on October 1, 2012
Hey there Aztec! Feel free to monkey around!
Ben Lindelof said on October 1, 2012
Hi all! Ben here (multi-platform dev and gamer) ready to help! Big fan of social media, online games, developer/player interactions and core technologies that make it all possible. Glad to be here!
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on October 1, 2012
Glad to have someone so talented here! I’ve developed a few games myself (card games, board games, dice…), but my true passion is to make video games. With more work, I’ll make it there!
Joseph-Austin said on October 2, 2012
I’m a dev too. I think the Adventure genre (even Adventure/RPG) attracts a larger portion of developers to its fandom than other types of games. There’s some similarity in the logic skills involved. I’m personally working on a prototype and game design that I’ll be submitting to various new publishers that result from this Kickstarter campaign. The way I see it, if Adventure development has any chance of ever coming back, this is the time to jump aboard.
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on October 2, 2012
Let’s hope that’s the case!
Roger said on November 18, 2012
I read on the KS that you are not going to continue with this forum and I cannot agree more. I don’t know how many messages per day I have marked as spam here since the KS started
May I suggest a regular phpbb3-forum? If you need someone to set it up, you know where to find me
Lori said on November 19, 2012
I don’t know why this particular sort of forum is being spammed so badly… I guess it has to do with WordPress’s visibility and saturation of the market. We can try to use the Phpbb3 – and I will need your help for it. But it would be nice if the members could outnumber the spammers here. :-p
Roger said on November 19, 2012
PhpBB is proably the most common forum used on the net (or at least one of the most common) and it’s pretty easy to make it difficult for bots/spammers. Just give me the word and I will help you out Lori, I guess all focus is on the KS right now.
Sameer said on November 21, 2012
Lori and Roger, let me know if you need any help setting up the new forums.
Now that the KS is over, a lot of people are looking forward to joining the party over here.
And finally, CONGRATS to everyone for making this a success. And to all my fellow Americans, hope you have a great, warm (and delicious) Thanksgiving!
Sameer said on November 21, 2012
Just brainstorming (and probably getting ahead of myself here), but I was thinking about the new forum’s different categories. This is what I’ve come up with thus far; let me know what you think!
-Updates/Announcements: for Lori, Corey and the rest of the dev. team to share official updates. This will be especially important for people who back the game through Paypal (since they won’t receive the KS e-mails)
-Press: to post links to articles from the various news outlets
-Introduce Yourself: for members to get to know each other
-Hero U: to discuss anything about the game (this category may warrant sub-categories, such as “General Discussion,” “Alpha Test Feedback,” “Technical Help” and “Game Hints”)
-Quest for Glory: to discuss Lori and Corey’s past games and our memories of them (hopefully this shouldn’t be a problem for Activision?)
-Miscellaneous Discussion
Just some ideas
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on November 22, 2012
You should have seen all the spam I got rid of at The School for Heroes. Crazy!
Lori said on November 21, 2012
Those are really good suggestions, Sameer.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and the weekend is busy for us. However, we need to get this up and running as soon as possible. I’m thinking that next week will be a good time to talk about this and get this new BBS running.
Thanks everyone for your help. We now need to create a forum system that is useful, informative, and fun.
Roger said on November 21, 2012
Thank you for your suggestions Sameer
Alan Luckachina said on November 22, 2012
This board was fun, but we can say it’s purpose has been served, we got Hero-U funded!!
If you need an extra mod over at the new forums, let me know!
Alan Luckachina said on November 30, 2012
You know…we may want to keep this board running as a memento for the Super-fans who were recruited and sent word to every far corner of the internet until Hero-U hit the funding mark!
James (StarRunner) Rolls said on November 30, 2012
I’m actually surprised with how quiet it has been (with exception to the spam). I’d love to see the board running more, but I’m concentrating more on final projects for school rather than making fresh content for the boards. :/
Alan Luckachina said on December 2, 2012
That’s understandable man some times you gotta let “real life” take the forefront. I’m sure once more news on the project becomes available there will be more chatter here. I know we’ll have a new “official forum” by then, but it’s cool to think this board will still be here as our “private superfan guild”
